Job description

The NCA is an organisation which leads the UK’s fight to cut serious and organised crime. This includes class A drugs, child exploitation, people smuggling and human trafficking, major gun crime, fraud, cyber crime, money laundering and the corruption that organised criminals use to facilitate these crimes.
We work to imprison serious criminals, and use many other tactics to disrupt crime and keep people safe. In particular, we want to ensure crime doesn’t pay and that it’s harder to commit. We also draw on innovative new approaches to prevent crimes from happening in the first place.

Salary: The salary for this position is £24,964.  Where existing Civil Servants apply on transfer to the NCA at the equivalent grade, pay principles on Civil Service transfers will apply.

Additional London Weighting Allowance of £3,226

Role summary:

This is an exciting opportunity to work within a small evolving team within the Central Bureau of the UK Protected Persons Service, identifying and researching cyber and technological developments affecting the NCA and wider law enforcement’s capability to protect persons at risk.

Responsibilities may include;

• Deploying with the CB Operational team to conduct cyber risk assessments of clients and deliver technical solutions to address identified concerns
• Researching and maintaining knowledge of technological developments (including social media and mobile applications) that may threaten and/or benefit UK PPS operational activity, sharing this knowledge for the benefit of the wider community.
• Develop key relationships within NCA/law enforcement and public and private organisations to share knowledge for the benefit of UK PPS operations.

Due to the nature of the work officer will be expected to travel widely in the UK and occasionally overseas.

The successful candidate must hold a minimum of SC clearance, with a requirement to be DV whilst in post.
