Job description
Our Programme Support Officers will provide comprehensive, valuable administrative support to the Digital Markets Unit team. The work will include diary management, assisting in meeting preparations, drafting agendas and assisting with producing reports. There is the added benefit that you will also have the opportunity to contribute to project work and collaborate with colleagues across the organisation, so really influencing the work for public good.
To be successful in this role, candidates will need to demonstrate experience of undertaking administrative duties and display effective communication skills. In addition, you will be able to effectively prioritise tasks in order to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced work environment

Person specification
Your detailed responsibilities may include:
- Providing administrative support to the Digital Markets Unit team, including assisting in meeting preparation, drafting agendas and preparing summary notes.
- Overseeing records management, identifying opportunities to improve online document storage and updating the team’s resource planner.
- Working closely with the Digital Markets Unit’s Directors to provide diary and administrative support, coordinate briefing materials for key stakeholder meetings and manage travel/subsistence.
- Assisting with expenses and supplier invoicing, working closely with HR Business Partners and the team’s Business Manager.
- Assisting in producing reports and regular updates to governance groups, coordinating contributions from across the team and liaising with individuals across the wider CMA.
- Supporting future recruitment activity and the induction of new starters.
- Supporting in delivering case and project work in digital markets, working closely with colleagues across the CMA and using learnings from this work to inform the future work of the DMU.

Selection process details
As part of the application process you will be asked to complete a CV and personal statement. Further details about application requirements are listed on the application form.
The selection process will comprise of the sift (CV & application review) and an interview. Arrangements for the interview will be enclosed in the invitation. Interviews will be either conducted either virtually, by Microsoft Teams, or in-person at a CMA office.
An initial sift based on criteria 1 and 2 (Lead Criteria) may be held if a large number of applications are received. If your application progresses to a full sift, all elements of the essential criteria listed under Person Specification (listed below and in the attached role profile) will then be considered.
Please note that it is essential that your personal statement is aligned to provide evidence that you have the knowledge and recent practical experience for each of the following selection criteria in your application:
- Experience working independently and prioritising work to deliver to tight deadlines in a busy work environment (lead criteria).
- Experience undertaking administrative duties, such as preparing reports or carrying out record keeping (lead criteria).
- Good communication skills, including the ability to work with senior leaders and develop contacts with a range of stakeholders.
- Proficient with a range of Microsoft applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, Outlook).
The sift will take place between 7 and 15 June 2023.
If your application is successful you will be invited to attend an interview. You will be notified via email to log-in to your Civil Service Account and book your interview slot. You will be sent an email with full details of your arrangements for interview.
Interviews will be held between 22 - 30 June 2023.
The first part of the interview will comprise an in-tray exercise for which no preparation is required. Details will be forwarded to you before the interview. The second part of the interview will be a 30 - 45-minute panel interview where you will be asked questions based on the Behaviours and Experience outlined in the role profile.
