The FSA is a non-ministerial department of over 1300 people, with a big vision to drive change in the food system so that it delivers food we can trust. Our primary goal is to continue to protect public health and consumers wider interest in food. As we have now exited the EU the FSA faces a significant period of change and activity.

The Welsh Language Manager will lead the team responsible for ensuring a Welsh language service that is equal to its English equivalent and provide an active language choice in Wales. By managing and overseeing the FSAs Welsh Language Scheme, translation, proofreading, and a number of Welsh language projects, including publicity campaigns and school engagement, we seek to ensure that the Welsh language is given due consideration at every step of the process.

This is a role that allows the successful candidate to become a vital ambassador for two important undertakings: the delivery of safe food across the UK, and the championing of the Welsh language. Representing the value of Welsh through the efficient delivery of our service within the FSA allows us to ensure the best representation possible for the language.

In implementing the FSAs Welsh Language Scheme youll seek to ensure as wide an awareness of the Welsh materials on offer both amongst your colleagues in the FSA and the general public.

If successful at shortlisting stage, you will be invited to the final selection stage consisting of an experience/technical/behaviours-based interview, which will be conducted in Welsh, and an unseen English > Welsh Translation test (further details of the test will be advised to short-listed candidates on the interview date).
