Summary



It is a really exciting time to join HM Land Registry and we have an opportunity to join a fast paced, friendly and progressive team as a Senior Communications Officer.

Land is our nation’s greatest asset. Clarity and security of land ownership is essential to a functioning property market, and so before you can buy or sell any property, it is critical that you view the Land Register for all the information relating to it. For nearly 160 years we have played a key role in the UK’s economic stability and growth. In the 2020/21 financial year alone, nearly £260 billion worth of property transactions took place in the UK. All were recorded in the Land Register. We collaborate closely with a wide range of businesses and other stakeholders to make the conveyancing process quick, easy and secure.

We are looking for a Senior Communications Officer to lead and manage strategic communications with our key audiences including customers, stakeholders and the media. You will help deliver and shape communications across our programmes of work

Job description

As part of this role, you will:

- Proactively manage multi-channel and multi-audience communication campaigns.
- Provide advice to colleagues on best practice in content (including use of plain English and style guides), communication channel, layout and branding.
- Edit and proof-read communications material in line with HM Land Registry’s style guide, targeted to the right audiences
- Manage the commissioning, sign off and production process for communication material across a range of strategic campaigns.
- Monitor and protect HM Land Registry’s brand and reputation.
- Work with senior internal stakeholders, including leads up to director level where appropriate, to create and execute strategic communications plans to meet business targets.
- Advise on proactive and reactive media opportunities.
- Provide management updates to Comms SMT and senior internal stakeholders, setting out priorities, targets and progress.
- Horizon scan to identify external stories, expectations and their potential impact on our audiences

What we’re looking for in our Senior Communications Officer:

Experience of advising senior leaders on communications
A proven ability to build and manage relationships with journalists and internal/external stakeholders
Previous experience working in a busy communications team or as a journalist
Experience of drafting press releases
Experience of responding to enquiries from journalists, working to tight deadlines
Experience of producing social media content production and planning communications campaign
Thorough understanding of how insight and evaluation contributes to communications strategies and plans.
Strong oral and written communication skills

Qualifications

CIPR membership or equivalent and able to demonstrate commitment to professional development
