About the job


This role sits within the Operations Production Engineering and Data Governance Group.

The Group supports production teams delivering Change Management and also delivers Internal Training, Quality Assessment, Defence Standards and Data Governance across the business. The team consists of Subject Matter Experts who work collaboratively with a wide range of teams to support delivery of our ADMIRALTY Products and Data Services to both our Defence and Commercial Customers.

Job description

The purpose of the role is to:
• Manage the delivery of change, workstreams and projects
• Support change and continuous improvement activity
• Monitor and report on change activity
• Gather and maintain metrics on processes to support/challenge decisions and monitor/improve performance

The primary objective of the role is to ensure change activities are delivered effectively into the Business. This includes large scale change, which could be managed in the form of a project or workstream, as well as smaller scale change such as supporting Continuous Improvement activity within a singular team.

Alongside change activity, the role is required to develop and maintain tools which can generate Management Information and Business Intelligence to support decision making and performance monitoring


Change Delivery Managers in the team have the following key tasks:

1. Manage the delivery of change, workstreams and projects:
a. Define and when appropriate, prioritise activities across relevant stakeholders and the Business Plan
b. Use appropriate Change/Project Management methodologies to structure the delivery
c. Communicate with appropriate stakeholders from across the Business
d. Manage the integration of any change into existing processes, documentation, and training resources

2. Support change and continuous improvement activity:
a. Support and mentor stakeholders from across the business to deliver effective change and Continuous Improvement
b. Ensure change activity is appropriately scoped, defined and has quantifiable benefits
c. Maintain an awareness of industry best practice relevant to the role (such as Change/Project Management, Continuous Improvement and Process Improvement) and continually improve these practices within the Business
d. Assess the effectiveness of change activity (such as facilitating retrospective/lessons learnt sessions)
e. Facilitate complex discussions between subject matter experts to identify and align with future business processes, efficiencies, standards and practices.

3. Gather and maintain metrics on processes across the production flowline to support/challenge decisions and monitor/improve performance:
a. Develop, implement and maintain tools to gather metrics on the performance of the production flowline (such as Management Information/Business Intelligence)
b. Collate these metrics to support and challenge decision making
c. Identify trends and opportunities for improvements
d. Lead and support defect investigations, including undertaking RCA’s (Root Case Analysis)
e. Support process mapping and documentation of end-to-end production processes

• This role is open to full time, part time, job share. The UKHO will consider flexible working or workplace adjustments, where appropriate.

• The role will be contractually based at our Head Office in Taunton. We are working remotely at present but envisage a hybrid working model post pandemic whereby you will be able to balance your work location between working remotely and in the office. You must be able to travel to the office as and when required.

This is a Ministry of Defence non-reserved post and although open to UK, British Commonwealth and European Economic Area nationals, successful applicants will require a security clearance (SC) and therefore need to have resided in the UK for a minimum of 12 consecutive months within the last 5 years.
