Job summary

The System Resilience DR manager will ensure the implementation, continual improvement, embedding and promotion of the agreed Disaster Recovery (DR) standards across the NS&I IT estate. This will ensure the impacts of an outage, disaster, or cyber attack effecting IT systems can be recovered in a timely manner. The role holder will work closely with NS&I’s Risk team to define and assure the overall DR and Operational Resilience policies, standards and plans.

The role holder will also be required to facilitate all suppliers from across the outsourced operations to collaborate on all Information and Communications Technology Disaster Recovery (ICTDR) and resilience-related issues which affect NS&I, the outsourced operation and B2B clients. 

The System Resilience / DR manager will be required to co-ordinate IT DR testing on an annual basis and the continued testing of DR on infrastructure and application resilience across suppliers. They will ensure that both the corporate and operational ICTDR plans are documented, aligned to industry best practice and updated whenever changes to technologies are implemented.

The IT Services (Operations) department is an agile team and this role will also support colleagues to provide great service, to staff & customers across the business in Retail, B2B and corporate operations.

Essential qualifications 

  • Formal qualifications in Information Technology, Computer Science, relevant qualification in System resilience / disaster recovery or proven in depth work experience in the field of Disaster recovery and implementation. 

Essential skills and experience 

  • Experience in Disaster Recovery Planning and implementation, preferably in the government and / or financial sectors.
  • Experience of reviewing and providing feedback on written commentaries and materials altering its tone for differing audiences.
  • Excellent communication and advocacy skills.
  • Experience of working in an outsourced operating model.
  • Experience of working in financial services.

Essential technical knowledge 

  • Knowledge of ISO 27001 & ISO 27031 and equivalent standards and how they are applied to Disaster Recovery and IT Resilience processes.
  • Knowledge, understanding and application of various types of Disaster Recovery & IT Resilience methods in a multi cloud environment.
  • Good understanding of the concepts of cloud computing in AWS & Azure platforms.
  • Good understanding of resilience and DR capabilities in AWS & Azure Platforms.
  • Strong understanding of ITIL v4 framework and best practices

Qualifications

Formal qualifications in Information Technology, Computer Science, relevant qualification in System resilience / disaster recovery or proven in depth work experience in the field of Disaster recovery and implementation.

In the event we receive a large number of applicants, applications will be sifted first on the personal statement on the key experience. Those who demonstrate the minimal acceptable level of experience will then qualify for the full sift. 

If shortlisted you will be invited to attend a 1 hour panel interview via video call.
