We are looking for four Technical Product Managers to join our existing established team of seven. As a Technical Product Manager, you will act as business subject matter experts on our current and future digital products design, functionality, and process road map during the transitional period. We are looking for people who have the aptitude for understanding technical infrastructure; we will train you on the technical infrastructure that supports our products and services.
The UK Hydrographic Office (UKHO) is a world leading centre for hydrography, specialising in marine geospatial data to support safe, secure, and thriving oceans.
As a trading fund of the Ministry of Defence, we support defence, safe maritime navigation, and marine development around the UK and worldwide. Working with a wide range of partners, we source, process, and provide access to data ranging from seabed to surface. We make this data available through our ADMIRALTY Maritime Data Solutions – a portfolio of world leading charts, publications, and data sets, found on over 90% of ships trading internationally.

As a Technical Product Manager, you will be working on our existing and new Navigational & No-Navigational Services and will be responsible for technical product support. Using your in- depth knowledge of the various end to end processes that support ADMIRALTY Products and services, not only will you provide technical support to users, but also tactical resolutions to problems.
Aside from playing a key role in the design, development, and testing of products to ensure successful delivery, you will also be responsible for transferring knowledge through training and documentation to sales and distributors, as well as developers.

ResponsibilitiesYou will be able to effectively communicate technically complex information and concepts to a wide range of stakeholders with varied understanding and knowledge. Through building positive working relationships, you will manage stakeholder expectations and be able to understand the impact of your decisions. You will also be able to quickly develop a strong technical knowledge base of our products and services, which will enable you to provide specialised input into the customer division, as well as the wider team.
You will be responsible for:
› Providing technical support on ADMIRALTY digital products and services to Customer Services, distributors, application developers and the wider UKHO Business.
› Identifying and designing improvements to UKHO products, services and processes.
› Supporting development, testing and deployment to deliver clear benefit to internal and/or external customers.
› Working with Product Owners within an Agile development team, and business users along the 18-month roadmap for the Admiralty Digital Delivery Service & S-1XX new services when required.
› Providing specialised input into Customer and wider UKHO projects, providing the voice of the customer, and acting as senior user to accurately represent business process requirements.
› Supporting coordination of the restoration of normal service as appropriate, including providing out-of-hours support to system/service deployments and major incident resolution.

• This role is open to full time, part time, job share. The UKHO will consider flexible working or workplace adjustments, where appropriate.

• This position is a Fixed Term position non-reserved post which is open to full time, part time and job share candidates. The role will be contractually based at our Head Office in Taunton. We are working remotely at present but envisage a hybrid working model post pandemic whereby you will be able to balance your work location between working remotely and in the office. You must be able to travel to the office as and when required.
• Please note that we have four vacancies available and are looking for successful applicants to start in two phases, between May and September 2021.
New Entrants to the Civil Service will be expected to join at the salary minimum of the grade for which they applied. Those who are successful for a level graded role will retain their current salary.
Those who are successful for a higher graded role will have their promotion salary calculated.

This is a Ministry of Defence non-reserved post and although open to UK, British Commonwealth and European Economic Area nationals, successful applicants will require a security clearance (SC) and therefore need to have resided in the UK for a minimum of 12 consecutive months within the last 5 years.
