Job summary

An opportunity has arisen to join the UK Supreme Court (UKSC) ICT team as an IT Technician. This will be to provide first line support to all users (staff, Justices and some on site contract staff) to enable them to work efficiently without undue delay or disruption.

For the successful candidate, there may be an opportunity to complete a formal apprenticeship alongside the role to further develop IT skills.

Job description

The post holder will focus on the needs of the customer and use their initiative and knowledge to resolve issues quickly and to a consistently high standard. They will provide technical advice and support to users, responding to requests for assistance received via telephone, email, and face to face. They will also help maintain appropriate records through to satisfactory completion.

Duties include:

  • Maintenance of the service desk log and records
  • Providing first line support to users
  • Maintaining the record of stock – including laptops, PCs, screens, and peripherals
  • Assisting with the setting up of court rooms for hearings and setting up events
  • Asset management
  • An understanding of and commitment to equality of opportunity and good working relationships 
  • Proactive with ability to take initiative with regards to prioritising work and problem solving 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications and troubleshooting tools 
  • PC/laptop hardware maintenance and soft build 
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team, knowing when to escalate issues to line managers 
          • Ability to communicate with IT users at all levels within the organisation 
          • Well organised and motivated, able to work quickly when needed and respond to pressing workloads
          • Good written and verbal communication skills
