Job summary
We are currently looking for a Test Engineer to join our Clinical Practice Research Datalink team in the Safety and Surveillance group.
This is a full-time opportunity, on a permanent basis. The role will be based in 10 South Colonnade, Canary Wharf London, E14 4PU. Please be aware that this role can only be worked in the UK and not overseas. We are currently implementing a flexible, hybrid way of working, with a minimum of 4 days per month working on site to enable the collaboration and contact with partners and stakeholders needed to deliver MHRA business. Attendance on site is driven by business needs so depending on the nature of the role, this can flex up to 8 days a month, with the remainder of time worked either remotely or in the office. Some roles will need to be on site more regularly.

The new Safety and Surveillance Group brings together into a single integrated structure devices and medicines safety expertise with enforcement capabilities. These functions will be supported by our data and evidence generating capabilities complementing our signal generating capabilities produced via the new Safety Connect System.
Part of the Safety and Surveillance group, The Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD), jointly sponsored by the Agency and the National Institute for Health Care Research (NIHR), is the UK’s preeminent research service providing access to anonymised NHS data for research. In addition to supporting high quality observational research, CPRD has developed world leading services based on using real world data to support clinical trials and interventional studies.
Job description
This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the UK Government’s premier data-driven research service. We are seeking an individual who is experienced in quality assurance testing to lead, design, and deliver functional and non-functional tests to ensure that requirements for CPRD’s innovative products have been fully met. The post holder will have excellent analytical skills with experience of understanding intricate codebases and requirements to identify any potential quality issues that may require testing; in depth knowledge of testing applications and services using manual, automated, and regression testing; and experience of backend database testing.
Key responsibilities:
- Identify and develop test requirements.
- Create and execute test libraries.
- Define and manage test assets and track & report on results.
- Software Development Quality Assurance and people management
Person specification
Our successful candidate will:
- Be educated to degree level, or equivalent, in either a computer science-based, IT-based, business administration-based, or related discipline.
- Have proven ability of designing and executing functional and non-functional test cases using standard testing techniques, in instructed environments.
- Have proven ability of identifying simple patterns and trends and experience of investigating problems and opportunities in existing processes and contributing to recommending solutions.
- Be able to establish professional relationships with a range of stakeholders and collaborate with them to share information, resources and support.
- Be able to show a positive approach to keeping the whole team’s efforts focused on the top priorities and promote a culture of following the appropriate procedures to ensure results are achieved on time whilst still enabling innovation.
