Job description
The Testing Strategy team delivers across the whole portfolio of OPSS regulatory and testing requirements, covering both Product Safety and Construction Products. The team holds responsibility for the testing strategy and chairs the testing oversight panel, both of which feed into the overall OPSS strategies and high-level decision making. On any given day, the team collaborate closely with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure robust, rigorous and outcome focussed scientific based tests are conducted.
The Role
We are looking for new colleagues in our Testing Strategy team to lead and deliver on a wide range of testing projects and provide technical advice to support OPSS regulatory activities.
You will join a dynamic and collaborative team to provide technical support and advice on the delivery of testing projects spanning Energy and Products and Construction Products.
Responsibilities
• Provide technical and testing advice to support the regulatory activities of OPSS.
• Work closely with colleagues across the organisation, and develop relationships with key technical stakeholders in the industry.
• Support evidence generation on the basis of which OPSS may take regulatory action against those that place non-compliant construction products on the UK market.
Skills & Experience
• Degree in a Science, Analytical or Engineering discipline or equivalent.
• Proven science or engineering background and its application in a regulatory environment.
• An ability to readily assimilate the complexities of the technical legislation and underpinning British Standards.
• The ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with a broad range of stakeholders as well as confidently deal with colleagues and external contacts with special regards to technical information.
• A flexible attitude to enable coverage of a wide range of scientific areas, requirements and priorities.
• Strong experience and knowledge in delivering a robust technical service in accordance with relevant standards.
