As a Senior Digital Service Assessor you will ensure DWP services and those of it’s Arm’s Length Bodies, comply to the Government’s Service Standard for delivery of high quality services aligned to Government spend controls.

You will undertake assessments for high complexity / high risk services, communicating outcomes and championing the Standard across DWP and Digital. You will play a key role as an ambassador of the Service Standard and actively contribute in a range of forums, meetings, networks, conferences and online communities to increase its eminence.

Job description

The Service Standard assurance function provides an exciting opportunity to ensure the needs of users are really understood and are appropriately reflected in the design and delivery of brilliant digital services. A key element of this role is helping service teams to do the right things, in the right way, at the right time.

As a Senior Assessor you will lead Service Standard assessments for the larger, more complex services, applying a range of assessment methods/approaches and producing reports for senior leaders which, describe the readiness of individual services to proceed to the next stage of their digital journey.

A key part of the role is communicating Service Standard assessment outcomes and championing the Standard within DWP Digital, more widely across DWP and with its Arm’s Length Bodies – in doing so you will be playing a critical role in maturing both individual and organisational capability.

Working as Senior Digital Service Standard Assessor provides a great opportunity to:

• Build strategic relationships which enable you to influence both departmental and wider government strategy, particularly in relation to the design and delivery of quality services able to positively improve experience for citizen and internal users.

Leads assessments of large and complex services, applying assessment methods and approaches to determine if services comply with the Digital Service Standard.

Communicates outcome of assessments enabling stakeholders to understand how the Digital Service Standard supports government transformance and applies to their work and what they can do to comply with it.

• Produce briefing and reports clearly describing a service's state of readiness to proceed to the next delivery stage, actively contributing to key governance decisions.

• Assess options and likely consequences of assessment outcomes and provide a recommendation based on full analysis of available information.

• Provide advice, guidance and training to digital colleagues and leadership on the Service Standard.

• Build strategic relationships to influence departmental strategy and that of other government departments to ensure design and delivery of quality services which comply with the Service Standard requirements.

This job role may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in their DWP office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and your office will be your contractual place of work. The number of days that anyone will be able to work at home will be determined primarily by business need but personal circumstances and other relevant circumstances will also be taken into account. If you are successful, any opportunities for hybrid working, including whether a hybrid working arrangement is suitable for you, will be discussed with you prior to you taking up your post.

Salary Information

Salary for this role is from £52,412 (Band min) to £63,517 (Band max).

This role also attracts a Recruitment and Retention Allowance (RRA) of £6,000pa. RRA is non-salary, and non-pensionable, and will be reviewed annually.

Our offer to successful candidates will be based on an assessment of your skills and experience as demonstrated at interview.

Existing Civil Servants who secure a new role on lateral transfer should maintain their current salary.

Existing Civil Servants who gain promotion may move to the bottom of the next grade pay scale or 10% increase in salary whichever would be the greater.

Stage 1: Application

Technical:

Quality Assurance - Leads, develops and is accountable for an organisational approach and commitment to quality assurance. Ensures that quality assurance processes and activities are robust and based on industry best practice. Considers the implications of emerging technology, approaches, trends, regulations and legislation. Plans and resources the Organisational quality assurance activities. Monitors and reports on quality assurance activities, levels of compliance and both organisational and project risks. Reviews and analyses results from audit activities and identifies improvement opportunities for the organisation. 

The sift panel will use the information in your employment history and behaviour and technical statements to assess your experience, skills and knowledge against the essential criteria above.
