Summary

Working within an agile environment the Digital Optimisation (DO) Solutions Architect will be working alongside the Product Delivery Manager who will share the digital capability development and transformation projects being developed for the RAF, working not only with user areas but also having the opportunity to network across the MOD, industry and other Governmental departments in the field of Digital Transformation. The Digital Optimisation programme has high exposure to the RAF’s Senior Leadership and interacts at the Cabinet Office level for broadening and development opportunities.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

Job description

HQ Air Command is looking for a Solutions Architect to join its Digital Optimisation Team at in High Wycombe. The team will be responsible for the implementation, governance and strategy of Digital Transformation across the Royal Air Force. You will lead with a team of Digital Professionals that will be driving forward products and utilising emerging technologies to improve the way the RAF delivers its capabilities and increase efficiencies driven by the RAF Strategy.

You’ll be part of an agile, multidisciplinary team, working across quite a complex digital estate. You’ll need to overcome obstacles and manage dependencies as well as think strategically to prioritise work that balances user needs, business requirements and technical constraints.

Responsibilities

Digital Optimisation (DO) Solutions Architect is responsible for providing technical leadership and architectural design. The Solutions Architect has responsibility for ensuring that the products will operate efficiently and effectively, and specifically:

Bridging the gap between the technical and non-technical. You can speak on behalf of technical teams and facilitate relationships with indirect stakeholders. (Relevant skill level: working)

Governance. You understand how governance works and can participate in assurance. (Relevant skill level: awareness)

Making and guiding decisions. You can recommend decisions and describe the reasoning behind these. You can identify and articulate technical disputes between direct peers and local stakeholders. (Relevant skill level: awareness)

Strategy. You can describe the purpose and application of strategy, standards, patterns, policies, roadmaps and vision statements. (Relevant skill level: awareness)

Turning business problems into technical design. You can design systems characterised by managed levels of risk, manageable business and technical complexity and meaningful impact. You can work with well understood technology and identify appropriate patterns. (Relevant skill level: working)

Understanding the whole context. You understand how your work supports the team. You can identify wider influences and how they apply. You keep an open mind and can understand the broader context. (Relevant skill level: awareness)
