If so, this is a brilliant opportunity to join the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA). We’re the government agency dedicated to helping people stay safe on Great Britain’s roads.

The job role

As a Vehicle Standards Assessor (VSA), you’ll use your knowledge and experience to carry out technical examinations on a variety of vehicles to ensure they are legally compliant. Working at a number of Authorised Testing Facilities (ATF’s), you’ll become a recognised expert in roadworthiness standards for the HGV and PSV industries. You’ll play a key part in providing a high quality service and offering advice on vehicle safety and maintenance.

Working hours and salary

You’ll work an average of 37 hours per week, working flexibly over the course of the year.

Your salary will range from £26,945 to £30,945 (inclusive of allowances), depending on location. There are also monthly flexibility payments available if you meet certain criteria.

Sift/interview dates and location

The sift is due to take place w/c 12/03/2018.

The technical online assessment will be sent to you on 26/03/2018 with a closing date of 02/04/2018.

Interview/assessment will be held from 16/04/2018 to 04/05/2018.

Whilst we will endeavour to meet the dates set out in the advert there may be occasions when these dates will change. Those candidates invited to assessment will be provided with sufficient notice of confirmed dates.

If successful and transferring from another Government Department a security check may be carried out.

What are the modules?

Module 1 – Online Technical Test

Module 2 – Technical Interview

Module 3 – Behavioural Assessment

All candidates who apply must pass Module 1 – Online Technical Test.

However, if you just miss out on passing Modules 2 & 3, DVSA have the option of inviting you back for a further attempt (resit) without having to go through the whole recruitment process again.
