Summary

The FSA is a non-ministerial department of over 1300 people, with a big vision to drive change in the food system so that it delivers food we can trust. Our primary goal is to continue to protect public health and consumers wider interest in food. As we have now exited the EU the FSA faces a significant period of change and activity.

One of the key functions of the Agency is the provision of regulatory audit and assurance with regards to food and animal feed. This work ensures that the public is able to feel safe when consuming food and international partners have confidence in the UK food system. These audits ensure that food and feed official controls are conducted to the highest of standards, allowing the consumer to have the utmost confidence in both the Agency and the food on their plates.

The FSA in Wales is seeking a Head of Regulatory Audit and Assurance who can oversee this work, offering leadership to the team in their efforts to provide this assurance in the quality of work carried out by competent authorities.

Job description

Leading the team in their development and delivery of a robust and effective audit strategy, the post holder will seek to ensure that the departments work holds auditees to the expected standards, and that issues raised are dealt with efficiently so as to reduce risk to public health.

The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues across the FSA, including their partners in England and Northern Ireland to ensure a consistent delivery of standards across the three nations. Maintaining productive working relationships with external auditors and other government departments they will champion the Agencys high standards and ensure engagement from relevant stakeholders.

This work is vital to the FSA, providing assurance that the people the public trust to look after their food are working to the highest of standards. Managing a team of officials, you will seek to develop staff to help the Agency build our capabilities for auditing and monitoring in the years to come.
