Enterprise Integration Services (EIS) are at the heart of the HMRC Chief Digital Information Officer (CDIO) group. EIS handle HMRC’s core integration/middleware services, taking care of over a billion transactions every year and connecting hundreds of HMRC services.

We provide platforms for delivering Application Programming Interface (API) access to HMRC systems. We also provide artefacts and support for API consumers (software developers and other Government Departments) to build and manage authorised software that seamlessly integrates with HMRC digital services.

We use modern open-source products and work in an Agile way to deliver flexible, effective integration solutions.

Job description

The External Software Integration Team supports software developer companies who want to integrate with our systems through software that they are developing.

As a Business Management Officer, you will work as part of a wider team on Digital Relationship Management services, to ensure the best possible service to our customers.  Playing a key role supporting good governance and assurance by developers and ensuring they meet our standards and the acceptance framework.

You will be self-motivated, a confident communicator with good interpersonal skills. The role involves triaging, prioritising and responding to software developers’ queries – so you will need to write clearly and concisely.

You will have an eye for detail, with the ability to quickly understand and route out problems and how to navigate and use various digital tools e.g. MS Dynamics, Jira.  This is an exciting opportunity suited to someone who enjoys problem solving, has some good analytic skills and enjoys process orientated assurance tasks and helping customers.

Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out due diligence activities to ensure software developers meet HMRC’s onboarding standards;
  • Managing workflow and answering queries from developers to meet SLA’s;
  • Engaging with internal and external stakeholders to resolve technical issues for developers;
  • Creating and maintaining accurate customer records on MS Dynamics;
  • Regularly producing good quality, timely and informative reports and dashboards;
  • Taking ownership and maintaining a gov.uk web tool and content to ensure customers have accurate information about finding suitable tax software.

You will need to demonstrate practical knowledge and experience in the following:

  • Good communication skills; preferably with experience of working within a customer support environment.

Team members that are moving offices as a result of the Locations Programme will be entitled to a Moves Adjustment Payment for three years where they incur additional costs. This is calculated based on the difference between the costs of travelling to and from the new and old office, over a weekly period. Terms and Conditions

We really hope you decide to apply for this role. If you’re successful you need to know that in February 2021 members of recognised trade unions (ARC and PCS) voted to approve a pay and contract reform offer. This means that HMRC will adopt new terms and conditions for all colleagues as part of a multi-year pay deal and contract offer, the pay deal period is 01 June 2020 – 31st May 2023 and terms and conditions changes take place from the 01 June 2021 onwards. These terms will apply to colleagues who already work in HMRC and if you join us, it will apply to you too.
