Can you combine your technology knowledge with industry experience to understand current and future needs linked to digital technology opportunities within the Department for Transport (DfT)?
As a Digital Demand Analyst within the departments Digital Service it will be your responsibility to work with the Digital Business Partners to create trusted and influential relationships that enhance our reputation. These relationships will be used to shape future investment plans for the department’s digital transformation.
You will be responsible for taking the strategic plans from our “what if” conversations to the next level of detail by identifying, analysing, and prioritising business requirements that can be understood by project Delivery to ensure digital services are built and run aligned to the Digital Service’s vision and user needs.
Working across the DfTc Groups you will be earning the right for Digital Service to have a voice in some of the most important conversations that will set the agenda for the future. By being prepared to challenge assumptions and premature conclusions you will ensure that the opportunity to reimagine the delivery of public services in light of technology potential is considered at every stage.
You will have experience of working in a fast paced ambitious team, perhaps as part of a pre-sales environment, to build a case for change that incorporates innovative digital technology.
Your main responsibilities will include:
• Alongside the Digital Business Partners create trusted and influential relationships across the DfT Groups (Rail Group; Roads, Devolution and Monitoring Group; High Speed Rail Group; International, Security and Environment Group; or Resources and Strategy Group)
• Capture and understand strategic and tactical business needs, provide problem definition and prepare project delivery submissions
• Provide tailored analysis based on business context and stakeholder perspectives, identifying opportunities for improvement to increase value and maximise efficiency
• Identify and quantify business improvement opportunities that will deliver DfT’s vision and strategy,
You will be passionate about using technology to solve business problems identified through collaborative working. Able to demonstrate an understanding of user needs, define requirements and communicate value of opportunity to influence the decision of others.
You will understand the need for taking a people centric approach to digital technology and the importance of understanding why before discussing the what.
You will listen to understand, value the contributions of others and aspire to reimagine how services are delivered to maximise technology investment.

You will have the option of being based at either our London or Hastings office. We encourage remote working, with a minimum of 40% of your week being office based. Whichever location you choose, regular–usually weekly–travel to the other office is required.
You will be expected to take a flexible approach to this to ensure business needs are met.
Successful candidates based in Hastings will attract the SEO national salary of £37,428 as will those who are not based in London for at least 3 days a week.
