The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) have an exciting role for a Project Support Officer looking to further develop their knowledge and qualifications in project management.
The role is open to all ages, is a permanent position, and offers the opportunity to further develop your organisational and project management skills with an Associate Project Manager Apprenticeship. You will be joining the UK’s world-leading government body, the CMA, established to ensure competition works in consumers’ favour and businesses treat their customers fairly.
As a Project Support Officer, you will focus on providing support to the CMA’s ICT team, in the day-to-day running of a portfolio of ICT projects covering desktop, infrastructure, estate and application projects. This will entail carrying out project secretariat and Project Management Office (PMO) tasks, organising internal and external meetings such as Project Boards and Checkpoint reviews, managing the records management systems for filing and distributing correspondence and project papers.
Approximately 20% of your working hours will be spent completing the two-year Level 4 Associate Project Manager Apprenticeship. The completion of which will result in you achieving PMQ and APM (IPMA Level D) qualifications along with the apprenticeship qualification.

• A level in any subject or a Level 3 (NVQ/BTEC or equivalent) qualification in business administration or business management.
We'll assess you against these competencies during the selection process:
- • Computer literate and proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications, in particular Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills with experience of dealing with internal and external stakeholders at differing seniority levels to provide a high-quality service. .
• Excellent administrative skills with experience of data entry, records management and electronic filing and the ability to pay strict attention to detail.
• Proven organisational abilities with experience or involvement in co-ordinating team or project management activities.

If you’re already a civil servant being appointed on level transfer, you’ll retain your existing terms, including annual leave. Where you’re being promoted, however, you’ll receive the greater of a 10% pay increase or the new grade minimum. Applicants new to the civil service may be considered for appointment at a salary higher than the starting point indicated above (depending on skills, knowledge, experience and qualifications).

Our location is currently Holborn, London (Zone 1). In 2019 we are planning to relocate to either Zone 2 or Zone 3. Current locations being investigated are Canary Wharf as our preferred choice and Stratford as our second choice.
