Summary

The Competition Appeal Tribunal (CAT) is a world class professional, specialist judicial body whose principal statutory functions are to hear appeals in respect of decisions made by competition and regulatory authorities and claims for damages (to recover losses caused by infringements of competition law) brought by individual / groups of claimants.

This is an exciting opportunity to develop real experience at the cutting edge of both substantive competition law and legal procedure. The work of the Tribunal covers every aspect of competition litigation, including appeals against infringement decisions, judicial reviews of merger and market investigations and private litigation (including collective actions and fast track procedures).

Job description

You will be working directly for the President, Chairmen and Registrar of the Tribunal, the post encompasses a case handling role central to the work of the Tribunal.

Key Accountabilities include:
- Liaising with parties and Tribunal members in the
conduct of cases before the Tribunal
- Attending hearings and assist on issues as required
- Researching case law and producing written analyses
- Preparing drafts of orders, judgments and written
materials
- Assisting in relation to outside speaking
engagements

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be an experienced lawyer and a team player, capable of handling procedural matters and analysing issues of law and fact raised in the submissions of parties.
