The Social Media Manager is responsible for Acas’ social media content and will potentially line manage a social media apprentice. The successful candidate will join our team at a time when we want to grow our reach with groups such as small businesses and young people who are new to work.
If you get the job you’ll be based in central London five days a week, working closely with colleagues in PR, marketing and internal communications.
Purpose of the role
To manage Acas’ presence in social media, helping us to achieve our aim of reaching people in their first jobs, small business owners and HR professionals by driving increased engagement across all channels. Main tasks will include:
•Manage Acas’ day to day presence on LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube
•Generate creative ideas for content based on insight and evidence
•Write, create and edit content for use across all social media channels including Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and Facebook
•Ensure all content meets accessibility, editorial and other agreed standards
•Write, create and launch paid social adverts for Acas’ social media platforms: Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn
•Use social media analytics to report back on activity, and co-ordinate and produce reports
•Provide necessary additional support to the Senior Social Media Manager as required
•Support and manage development of regional social media, and new channel development
•Provide advice and guidance to colleagues on the most effective use of social media
•Line manage and develop a social media apprentice
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:
Knowledge, experience and skills
•Creating content for social media; strong copywriting skills, using plain English and ensuring suitability for audiences
•Day-to-day updating and management of an organisation’s social channels
•Community management, providing excellent customer service to customers
•Using social media applications such as Sprout Social, Hootsuite or equivalent
•Using social media analytics to report back on activity, and co-ordinating and producing reports against success criteria
•Ability to work independently, project manage, prioritise and deliver to short deadlines in a fast-paced environment
•Experience in using photo-editing software and creating graphics for social media
•Experience in paid social advertising on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram
•Experience of collaborating with stakeholders, the media and PR communication team members on social media activity
•Knowledge of latest social media trends and keeping up to date with best practice in evaluation
•Experience of using Google Analytics
•Experience of running a social media Q&A session and a Facebook Live
•Managing external suppliers and agencies
•Experience of handling social media within the national team of a high profile organisation
•Experience in line management
Prior social media marketing experience is required.

On joining us, you would automatically become a member of the ‘ALPHA’ Pension Scheme, unless you choose the ‘partnership’ pension scheme (Civil Service Additional Voluntary Contribution (CSAVC) Scheme), or you can opt out.

Selection process details
The selection process is in two stages: initial sift, and then a success profiles based interview testing strengths, technical and behaviours for those who have successfully passed the initial sift.
