Project Controls is a key function within DE&S and plays a vital role in ensuring the success of projects by providing Estimating, Cost Control, Planning and Scheduling and Risk Management. What makes us unique is that we are involved in all phases of a project from the proposal through to completion, ensuring work is delivered on time and within budget.
We have exciting opportunities currently available for experienced Project Controls Managers (PCM).
These positions would be the "right hand person" to the Project Manager and is responsible for developing and overseeing the delivery of Project Controls operating plans and performance across a variety of high value / complex projects and portfolios. As a Project Controls Manager, you will be responsible for setting and maintaining Performance Measurement Baselines, directing and integrating all aspects of Planning and Scheduling, Cost Estimating, Risk Management, Cost Control and Earned Value Management (EVM), whilst providing analysis of progress and driving agreed recovery actions.
• Have significant responsibility for the management of Project Controls employees
• Be able to guide and coach other managers to interpret complex data
• Offer strategic advice and influence senior stakeholders on complex issues regarding project performance
In person, you will possess excellent interpersonal, communication and relationship building skills with demonstrable experience of working collaboratively with teams, across functions and with senior stakeholders. These posts represent a real opportunity to be involved with the continual development of Project Controls and add value to this key function.
These roles would suit experienced Project Controllers / Project Managers with proven expertise in supplier management, delivering projects and complex acquisition / procurement.
To be considered you will possess significant experience of Project Controls Management and have expertise in at least 2 of the following disciplines:
• Planning & Scheduling
• Cost Estimating
• Risk Management
• Cost Control
• Earned Value Management / Performance Management
An Association of Project Management (APM), Registered Project Professional (RPP), CCAB or a technical / business degree would be an advantage.

Please note that the advertised salary is payable for full time advertised hours, if you wish to work less than the advertised hours it will be on a pro rata basis. Starting pay may differ depending on qualifications, experience and specific role requirements (external candidates only). The Civil Service cannot offer a salary higher than the one advertised.
For internal candidates (DE&S and SDA only), if you are successful for a role at your current level, then your basic salary will not change. If you are currently at a level lower than the role advertised and found successful then your salary will increase to the higher of 85% of the top of the advertised range or a 10% increase in your current base pay.
