Acas Digital Data and Technology (DDaT) are committed to continuously improving the digital and technology experience of everyone using Acas IT services. The Acas DDaT team is in place to work professionally with all stakeholders (suppliers, employers, employees and other government departments). Every member of the DDaT team represents the function, (regardless of their role) as ambassadors of DDaT when working in regional offices and are expected to demonstrate high standards of customer service and support to resolve local issues.
Core functions of the Directorate include project management, service transition and management, desktop management and implementing new digital technology services.
Acas is currently undergoing a five year period of transformation in which DDaT plays a significant part in delivery the transformation agenda.
Increasingly Acas DDaT’s remit involves working with multiple interdependent suppliers and adopting new digital capabilities whilst retiring older ones. Our work is fast paced to address the new challenges of Acas transformation and the emerging digital opportunities. Acas DDaT seeks to maximize opportunities, working with the streamlined Government Digital Service governance system.
This role sits within DDaT Service Delivery section.
Purpose of the role
Management of the Acas Azure platform and virtual server environment, including any remaining legacy on-premises infrastructure.
•Manage and resolve Incidents within agreed Service Levels, identify, manage and resolve Problems, support and manage required Changes through the DDaT Change Management process (using ITIL definitions);
•Identify and implement cloud based architecture that will improve existing applications and services;
•Drive and support system reliability, availability, scale, and performance activities, achieving agreed availability metrics using Continual Service Improvement;
•Proactively maintain, manage and improve monitoring and ongoing regular maintenance and checks, enabling issues to be identified before being reported by customers, avoiding business impacting system outages;
•Ensure that all infrastructure solutions follow security and compliance controls, including data sovereignty;
•Support project objectives; technically guide projects through to completion;
•Deliver cloud platform architecture documentation detailing how Azure infrastructure and platform services support the overall architecture;
•Manage, maintain, support and document the existing Windows Server estate as required, highlighting improvements where required;
•Maintain and advance technical skills and knowledge, keeping up to date with market trends and competitive insights and share within the Directorate.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:
