This role offers the opportunity to work within a diverse and multi-disciplined team within the Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA). The SDA is responsible for the United Kingdom's submarine maintenance and build programme; a top priority of the UK’s defence programme and one of the largest UK programmes in existence. Working with our key industrial partners, BAE Systems, Rolls-Royce and Babcock Marine, we are striving towards delivering submarine capability in a more cost efficient, effective and safe way.

We are focused on the procurement and support of some of the most complex equipment in the world. Consequently, safety and security are fundamental to everything we do, ranging from providing equipment and support to the submarine fleet through to the environment in which we operate.

The Information Management & Information Technology (IM&IT) function is an exciting and diverse function that employs professionals from information management, information technology, information assurance and cyber security to management information and statisticians. We act as the ‘digital partner’ to the SDA helping the whole organisation to embed new business processes, tools and technology while at the same time keeping us legal and our information protected.

Exciting opportunities have arisen for Information and Knowledge Managers to join the SDA to support on a variety of vital projects. You could have the opportunity to join the Maritime Underwater Future Capability team or The Chief Information and Security Office team to provide expert advice and guidance in supporting the delivery of Knowledge and Information Management strategy, policy and solutions. If you are seeking a challenge and want to develop your career, this role will see you supporting a team in delivering one of the biggest programmes in the UK today.

An example of some of the projects you could be involved with are:

The role within the Maritime Underwater Future Capability team is responsible for the information and knowledge management of the SharePoint site and a Collaborative Working Environment site for suppliers. You will be working closely with the Security post holder to ensure security of sensitive information and key to your success is building a network of contacts across the SDA and Security post holders to identify and promote good practice.

The role within the Chief Information and Security Office is part of a team which operates across the SDA and wider Nuclear Submarine Enterprise to ensure the business is better able to exploit, store and protect vital information assets to drive effective decision making. You will contribute by delivering against the SDA IT infrastructure requirement, procuring IT systems and hardware in support of SDA strategic objectives. The ability to manage complex stakeholder interfaces, hold suppliers to account against contract deliverables and implement effective IT solutions is essential to your success.

To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate your expertise by having previous experience of working in a similar role and having excellent proven experience in working with multiple senior stakeholders and other relevant third parties, to support the delivery of knowledge and information policies and processes.

Successful candidates should be able to demonstrate:

- Project experience with the ability to plan and manage work using appropriate Project Management tools and techniques are necessary to ensure delivery is coherent
- Confidence to draft clear and compelling business cases for procurement of IT Hardware and Software and drive successful outcomes with commercial colleagues during the procurement process
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present information in a variety of mediums and at varying levels of seniority
- Strong stakeholder management skills
- Ability to write, implement and maintain Information and Knowledge Strategy
- Maintenance of appropriate IT systems

It would be advantageous if you have experience in:

- IT Systems and Infrastructures and how they are deployed across large and complex organisations

One of these roles will require a good understanding of SharePoint and Collaborative Working Environments with an emphasis on Configuration Control skills.

Please note that the advertised salary is payable for full time advertised hours, if you wish to work less than the advertised hours it will be on a pro rata basis. Starting pay may differ depending on qualifications, experience and specific role requirements (external candidates only). The Civil Service cannot offer a salary higher than the one advertised.

For internal candidates (DE&S and SDA only), if you are successful for a role at your current level, then your basic salary will not change. If you are currently at a level lower than the role advertised and found successful then your salary will increase to the higher of 85% of the top of the advertised range or a 10% increase in your current base pay.

All employees joining DE&S or SDA who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a 6 month probation period effective from the employment start date.
