The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) is a major Government department, at the heart of the justice system, an essential public service, relied upon by millions of victims, families, and businesses across our country. At the MoJ, our 85,000-strong team is working to protect and advance the principles of justice and deliver a world-class justice system that works for everyone in society.

We are now seeking a Chief Executive for HM Courts and Tribunals Service (HMCTS), an executive agency of the Ministry of Justice. HMCTS provides the system of support, including infrastructure and resources, for the administration of the business of the courts in England and Wales, and those tribunals throughout the United Kingdom for which the Lord Chancellor is responsible. As well as playing a vital role in the overall leadership of MoJ, the HMCTS Chief Executive is responsible for the day-to-day operations and administration of the agency, to deliver the highest quality services within a complex business environment, and for the leadership of 16,500 staff.

This is no ordinary CEO appointment and we are seeking an outstanding individual with the ability to inspire staff, build engagement and capability to deliver results and who has experience of leadership at scale in a dispersed operational service delivery environment. You will be able to work effectively across organisational boundaries and complicated stakeholder and political landscapes and have experience of financial accountability gained in organisations of scale and complexity and the management of significant budgets.
