Summary

Are you someone who would enjoy ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the Deputy Director’s office and their leadership team to maximise productivity and deliver key priorities across Digital Group?

If so, come join us as a Directors Support Manager. 

You will be providing support to a busy Directors Support office. You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the Director and the leadership teams to maximise their productivity as they deliver priorities across Digital Group.

You will work autonomously acting as a key point of contact for internal and external meetings, producing secretarial minutes and coordinating the actions and decisions from these meetings.

Job description

As Directors Support in the busy and complex area of DWP Digital Shared Channels Experience, you will work with the Senior Leadership Teams to provide an efficient and consistent service across the Senior Leadership Team.

• You’ll be expected to build a good understanding of the strategic priorities across Digital Group, taking a keen interest in the work we do and using that insight to plan and prioritise on behalf of the Director.

• You'll use your knowledge to instinctively know what the next best step is - whether to action the request, seek advice, set up a meeting or delegate to another team member. Your relationships across your functional area and wider Directors Support community, will help guide your response.

• You’ll be secretariat for meetings such as Leadership Team meetings, taking responsibility for capturing actions right through to completion.

• You’ll play a key role in supporting communication within your area - helping to set up key communication channels for your Director, such as weekly team calls and supporting with events.

• You’ll help coordinate key messages and briefings to be delivered at these, by keeping an eye on what’s happening across DWP and Digital, and within your functional area.

As part of this position you will be required to travel on an intermittent basis to accompany the deputy director to various Digital Hubs across the UK.

This job role may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in their DWP office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and your office will be your contractual place of work. The number of days that anyone will be able to work at home will be determined primarily by business need but personal circumstances and other relevant circumstances will also be taken into account. If you are successful, any opportunities for hybrid working, including whether a hybrid working arrangement is suitable for you, will be discussed with you prior to you taking up your post. 

Salary Information

Salary for this role is from £34,173 (Band min) to £34,971 (Band max).

Our offer to successful candidates will be based on an assessment of your skills and experience as demonstrated at interview.

Existing Civil Servants who secure a new role on lateral transfer should maintain their current salary.

Existing Civil Servants who gain promotion may move to the bottom of the next grade pay scale or 10% increase in salary whichever would be the greater.

Security

Successful candidates must pass a disclosure and barring security check.

Selection process details

Stage 1: Application

When giving details in your employment history and personal statement you should highlight your experience in line with essential criteria below:

• Experience of providing support services to senior leaders at board level.

• Experience of building relationships and influencing senior stakeholders, managing those relationships effectively.

• Experience of managing conflicting demands and priorities whilst working in a high profile, fast paced environment.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to use different communication styles and methods (including MS Teams), recognising the benefits.

Experience of diary management, ensuring priority meetings and events take place.

Should a large number of applications be received, an initial sift may be conducted using the (lead criteria)  Experience of providing support services to senior leaders at board level

Candidates who pass the initial sift will be progressed to a full sift.
