Job summary
The Home Office is central to UK life. Our work extends from devising drugs policies and ensuring the immigration system is not being abused, to delivering an accountable policing service. Join us in this important senior role and you’ll have a fantastic opportunity to make your mark in our Strategy, Capabilities and Resources Directorate, which is part of the Public Safety Group.
The unit you’ll join manages a large policing budget, and leads on criminal justice system strategy. You’ll have a wide range of responsibilities, including coordinating the Home Office’s role within the criminal justice system (CJS) and mapping demand flows across the system. We’ll also expect you to improve the progression of case files from the police to the Crown Prosecution Service, enhance the use of data within the CJS, and coordinate Home Office policy relating to victims of crime.
But your work won’t stop here – additional tasks will include driving productivity across policing and supporting the delivery of technical and allocative efficiencies to policing. Leading and inspiring a team of 35 colleagues, you’ll also play a key role in supporting the Safer Streets Mission and in helping to deliver the Home Secretary’s ambitious plans relating to the reform of policing.
Job description

Highly numerate and capable of taking an analytical approach to complex problems and the identification of practical solutions, we’ll expect you to have well developed experience of negotiating with a diverse range of senior stakeholder groups including Chief Officers, Ministers and Strategy and Policy Leads. You should also have strong organisational skills and the ability to deliver multiple priorities to challenging deadlines. In addition, experience of working on strategic finance issues would be desirable, as would an understanding of the criminal justice system.
n return for your skills and expertise we can offer you a great career with one of the Government’s most interesting and inclusive departments. And with ongoing training and development opportunities and a highly competitive benefits package, there’s no saying where your career will take you at the Home Office.
