Job description

Have you got a background in Information Assurance and are looking for a career within the Civil Service? If so, we are recruiting for an Information Assurance Manager based out of our main HQ in Abbey Wood, Bristol.  

This exciting role will involve you supporting the information asset owner with the upkeep and policies documentation for use across the MoD and across the supply chain by supporting internal and external audits and assurance of information. This post will ensure information is being managed and protected in accordance with policies.  

You will also have the opportunity to review security incidents, working alongside Project Security Advisors in the MoD with the prospect of working towards being a Cyber Security Assessor. 

There will be the occasional travel to other MoD sites where travel will be subsidised. 

For security reasons this role is open to sole UK nationals only. A ‘sole UK national’ refers to an individual who holds citizenship solely in the UK, without dual citizenship or nationality from another country. We’re unable to offer visa sponsorship. 

This role requires you to have lived in the UK for the last 5 years and obtain Security Check (SC) security clearance. Clearance must be obtained without any caveats that prevent you from carrying out the role you have been recruited for. If it isn’t obtained or is obtained but with caveats that prevent you from carrying out the role, any conditional offer made to you will be withdrawn. Obtaining SC security clearance can be a lengthy process, and we reserve the right to withdraw any conditional offer made if the necessary security clearance isn’t obtained within 12 months. 

At the SDA, we champion flexible ways of working. Regular in-person attendance in accordance with MoD policy is required to promote the benefits of face-to-face collaboration alongside flexibility of hours to support work-life balance. Initially, you may be expected to attend more frequently to familiarise yourselves with the site, the team, and your role.

What you’ll be doing

  • Provide expert advice and guidance in supporting the delivery of Information Assurance strategy, policy and solutions relevant to specialist area.
  • Undertake information assurance reviews and support audits and provide management information on reviews, both internally and externally with Industry Partners, presenting the findings across stakeholder groups.
  • Create, maintain and audit security information and records, producing dashboards to present to senior management, DNO and navy command.
  • Manage the controls to ensure Information Management activities is managed in accordance regulatory and relevant legislation.

Person specification

To be successful with your application, you'll need to show that you meet the following essential criteria:

  • Relevant qualification and/or experience in Information Assurance in an organisation.
  • Experience of working with Office 365 toolsets including SharePoint and reporting tools such as Power BI and Excel
