We are currently recruiting for a Web/UX Interaction Designer within HSE’s Digital Web and Design Unit to work on our intranet and website. We want people who are passionate about users, happy to work in an agile way and have the skills to enable them to work well with our different groups of stakeholders.

Working Pattern

Part time working hours are available for this role, we can accept part time applicants who can commit to working a minimum of 30 hours per week.

Job description

This is a high profile position in the team with responsibility for helping set and driving delivery and performance of our SharePoint intranet and website, working alongside content designers, graphic designers, performance analysts and others. You will need to be comfortable working independently on a range of communication technologies.

You will need good influencing skills and the ability to cut through a variety of competing priorities. You will be experienced in building good working relationships in pressured environments and be an enthusiastic team-player with a proactive and collaborative attitude.

As part of the Civil Service, you’ll be expected to demonstrate leadership qualities, be inspiring about our work and confident in your engagement. You’ll encourage mutual respect, value diversity and our different skills, experience and specialisms.

You will work to ensure quality and accessibility (legal) compliance and general web standards are met. These roles are key in transitioning website to improve engagement with citizens, employers and workers.

Person specification

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Configuration and deployment of communication sites and associated MS O365 functionality
  • Writing, adapting, maintaining and supporting HTML/CSS/Javascript code for our external facing website
  • Working to tight deadlines you will be providing front-end designs for complex projects and portfolios of work
  • Delivering designs and services that provide an integrated and consistent experience for users
  • Analysing user research and usability testing, iterating design based on user feedback and analysis
  • Building collaborative relationships and working effectively within an agile environment with colleagues and external providers
  • Quality assurance and accessibility checks to ensure output meets standards such as WCAG 2.2

Desirable skills and experience include:

  • User-Centered Design (UCD): Employing UCD principles throughout the design process to align with user needs and expectations
  • HTML/CSS: Conveying design specifications to developers and ensuring accurate implementation on the web
  • SharePoint Customization: Tailoring user experience to meet business requirements by customizing master pages, page layouts, and themes in SharePoint
  • O365 Integration: Creating cohesive user experiences across Office 365 applications by understanding SharePoint integration with tools such as Microsoft Teams and OneDrive
  • Microsoft Power Platform: Developing integrated solutions within the Office 365 ecosystem using PowerApps, Power Automate, and Power BI
  • Interaction Design: Crafting intuitive and engaging user interactions to optimize workflows and enhance usability

Travel and Hybrid Working

Interview
